For centuries, women have sported hats and fascinators to please themselves and highlight their personalities and finest attributes. Historical interpreter Ellie Carlson delve into this fashion phenomenon in her program “From Fedoras to Fascinators: A Delightful Parade through the History of Ladies Hats” at the Mount Prospect Historical Society, Saturday, June 1 at 1 p.m. It will be held in Central School, 103 South Maple Street, Mount Prospect.
Actual historic hats will be on display and are part of the program. Those attending are welcome to adorn themselves with their own personal hats or fascinators to promote a festive atmosphere. Seasonal summer refreshments will be served.
Ellie’s presentations, like Ellie herself, can be somewhat whimsical. She believes, “Properly costumed living history is the closest we can come to a time travel experience.”
Tickets are $12 per person. Reservations must be made in advance and tickets can be purchased via PayPal on the museum’s website: https://www.mtphist.org/the-history-of-ladies-hats-program-and-tea/ or by phoning the Historical Society at 847-392-9006.Tell a Friend
