The Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce, like so many of our members and partners, has felt the impact of COVID-19. With heavy hearts, we made the decision to temporarily close operations beginning Monday, April 13, 2020. It became increasingly difficult to continue our normal operations, particularly as we had to cancel our flagship events including our Mount Prospect Irish Fest and, as of this week, our Downtown Block Party. In addition to changes in events and programming, we have had to make a reduction in staffing. As of May 7, 2020, all positions at the Chamber have been eliminated and our staff including our Executive Director, Dawn Fletcher Collins, has been laid off. These measures were needed to ensure the future financial stability of this organization.
We are grateful to Dawn and her team for the contributions they have made to the Chamber of Commerce. Dawn has served as Executive Director of this organization for over 9 years and we thank her for her efforts to make Mount Prospect a great place to work and live.
While this has been a pivotal moment for the organization, we at the Chamber are moving forward. We remain committed to supporting you, our members, and the Mount Prospect business community. We are in the process of gradually resuming operations and rebuilding this organization. In the coming weeks, the Board of Directors will be reaching out to members to gain your insight on the challenges you’ve faced during COVID-19. This outreach will allow us to better understand how we can collectively move forward and how the Chamber can support the recovery efforts of our local businesses.
The Restore Illinois guidance issued by the State of Illinois will continue to determine when we are able to resume our events. However, we understand that connecting our members to one another and building meaningful relationships through networking and professional development programming are at the core of what we do. We will be announcing virtual networking opportunities in the coming weeks, including our first Virtual Networking After Hours on May 14!
The support of our members is the backbone of this organization. We thank each and every one of you for your continued support and community engagement. Active memberships in the Chamber will be extended to cover the period of time our office is closed. Paid sponsorships by our members will be put towards a future event once we are able to reschedule events and programs accordingly.
In the meantime, our office at 46 E. Northwest Highway will remain closed. All inquiries may be e-mailed to Board of Directors Chairman, Trisha Chokshi, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Members may also reach out to any member of our Board of Directors.
Please be sure to check our website (www.mountprospectchamber.org) and Facebook page for the latest updates. We thank you again for your support. We look forward to serving our community stronger than ever.
