Trinity United Methodist Women is set to host a comedy fundraising event featuring Christian Author, Speaker and Stand Up Comedian Tracy DeGraaf. DeGraaf will perform her one-woman show “Life Happens Laugh Anyway” on Saturday, April 6 at 605 West Golf Road in Mount Prospect, IL at 6-7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Advance tickets are $15 and available at www.trinitymp.org/umw-fundraiser-4-6-19/ or by calling the church office at 847-439-0950. Tickets may be purchased online and picked up at will call at the event. DeGraaf describes her show as “An hour of comedy where I take the audience through the season’s of a woman’s life from getting married and having kids, to gaining weight and growing a beard, and then they meet Jesus.” Her material is mostly self-deprecating humor centered around her life having raised five sons, her 30 years and counting marriage, and the ups and downs of everyday life. The driving force behind her comedy is the inspirational part. After making her audience laugh for over an hour, she closes the show with spiritual inspiration encouraging everyone to take a step closer to Jesus. “I can’t think of a better time to introduce the love of God through Jesus than after the audience has spent 60 minutes laughing out loud,” DeGraaf said. “The defenses are down. The brain’s been coated with endorphins and dopamine and the heart is ready to receive the message of Jesus,” she added. Trained for comedy at The Second City in Chicago, DeGraaf has quickly made a name for herself. Lake Michigan Shore Magazine called her incredibly funny and named her one of "six Mid-western comedians who crack us up." Legendary comedian, actress, and fellow mother of five children, the late Phyllis Diller, said this about DeGraaf's book "A funny book that will make you laugh, cry, and take life as it should be - with a grain of salt!"
